The best thing that you can do to keep your HVAC unit running efficiently and save money is to change the air filter every month. Electrostatic filters are the best. Do not run the unit with the filter removed. If it's a filter that you clean check the manual for filter cleaning procedure. Let a washed filter dry completely before reinstalling it.

Remember, especially during the summer months, remove any leaves or garbage from outdoor condenser units.
