Start by heading outside and removing all the leaves, dirt and garabage that has collected around your air conditioning unit throughout the winter. Use a hose to spray off the entire unit to get it really clean.

Then head back inside and make sure your furnace filter is clean. Your air conditioner uses the same blower as your furnace uses to move cool air through your home, so it’s just as important to keep your air filters clean during the spring and summer as it is during the winter.

There are times though when it is best to call in a professional. If you don’t feel like your house is cooling off properly or if you hear any strange noises coming from your heating and cooling equipment. Most HVAC professionals will recommend you have a professional cleaning and inspection of your air conditioning equipment once a year – and spring would be the prefect time.
